About Us

Providing supportive homes for children and young people Since 1996, OwnLife has been dedicated to supporting children and young people in Local Authority care. Our mission is to empower them to take ownership of their lives and thrive. Starting with our first registered home in Brockley, South East London, we have built a reputation for working with challenging young individuals and achieving positive results. Today, OwnLife operates as a group of three individual companies: OwnLife Residential Ltd (Children’s Homes), OwnLife Ltd (Supported Accommodation), and OwnLife Fostering Ltd (Fostering Agency).

Our Mission

At OwnLife, our mission is to create a caring environment where young people can achieve independence and fulfil their personal goals. To accomplish this, we:

Develop quality services in collaboration with local authorities, young people, and their families.

Provide well-planned and structured care and education programmes tailored to individual needs.

Recruit and develop staff teams who share our values and possess the necessary skills to support young people.

Foster a positive culture that encourages disadvantaged youth to achieve their potential, with the diligent support of our dedicated caregivers.

We firmly believe that all young people, regardless of their background, have the right to develop their full potential and contribute positively to society. Each individual in our care has the right to be treated with respect, dignity, and equality. They deserve access to education, healthcare, and the opportunity to voice their opinions and make independent choices. We strive to create a nurturing environment where lasting friendships and connections can flourish. OwnLife is proud to be a Preferred Provider of specialist care services for vulnerable young people, with contracts from 31 Local Authorities. We were among the first organisations to attain Preferred Provider status, demonstrating our commitment to excellence in care. As we move forward, OwnLife will register in line with new national mandatory standards overseen by Ofsted lead registration in 2023.

How We Operate

Children’s Homes: We currently operate Four Ofsted-registered children’s homes, providing 24/7 care and support for young people aged 12 to 17. Our highly skilled staff, under the guidance of Registered Managers, create a safe and nurturing environment. We are excited to announce the opening of two new residential homes this year.

We offer eight Supported Accommodation schemes, providing round-the-clock support for young people aged 16 to 21. These schemes facilitate their transition into adulthood, helping them develop essential life skills. Our Semi-Independent Living Scheme Managers oversee these programmes, ensuring effective support and monitoring.
